"In preparation for launch date on Tuesday 28th March, over 200 million new £1 coins have already been delivered to banks and cash centres. That’s over 100 lorry loads! To meet the demand in March, The Royal Mint has already produced over 600 million new £1 coins at a rate of up to 30 coins every second, 2,000 every minute and nearly 3 million new £1 coins per day. This follows stories in over 100 national print and broadcast media, including The One Show.
